Lacks outstanding flavor, used for cooking and canning. President – Large, dark blue with amber flesh. Fruit is very sweet and good for dessert, canning, or drying. Italian Prune – Large, dark blue skin fruit. ![]() Fruit is good fresh, cooked or preserved. Green Gage – Medium, greenish yellow fruit that has an amber flesh. One of the best tasting plums with extremely sweet flavor. Zone 5-9Įlephant Heart – Large baseball-sized plums, with mottled dark crimson colored skin, rich firm, red, juicy flesh. A hardy tree that is easy to grow and produces a large crop. Great for fresh consumption and preserves. Zone 5-9īurbank – Medium to large, red over yellow background fruit, with golden-orange flesh that is sweet and quite juicy. Zone 4-8īrooks – Large, dark purple skin with golden yellow flesh. Although most ornamental, flowering plum trees do not. Little more tart than other varieties making it a great plum for canning, jams and jellies. This tree has ovate, bronze or purple leaves and tolerates a mild amount of salt spray. Zone 5-9īlue Damson – Small, oval, dark purple skin, flesh is golden yellow. Bears fruit the second season after planting. Excellent fresh or for preserves, flesh is soft and sweet.
